As Apple unveiled the iPhone 15 the day before, Korean consumers are voicing complaints. Among the three Northeast Asian countries, it is the most expensive, and although the Korean launch price was frozen, Apple's exchange rate policy effectively means a price increase.

When Apple launched the iPhone 14 last September, it froze the North American base price but raised the Korean launch price citing a sharp rise in exchange rates. Compared to the iPhone 13, the base model increased by 160,000 KRW, the Pro by 200,000 KRW, and the Pro Max by 260,000 KRW. The exchange rate Apple applied at that time was reportedly in the 1,400 KRW range. The exchange rate on the previous day closed at 1,330 KRW.

The reason for growing dissatisfaction among Korean consumers is that overseas, there have been cases where prices were lowered reflecting exchange rates. Despite larger exchange rate fluctuations than Korea, Apple lowered the selling prices of the iPhone 15 in the UK and Germany by 50 pounds (about 82,891 KRW) and 50 euros (about 71,212 KRW) respectively compared to the previous model.
