Dobong-gu Completes Installation of Yellow Shade Shelters at 11 Child Protection Zones

Plans to Expand Installations in Areas Requiring Enhanced Safety for Vulnerable Road Users
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that yellow shade shelters have been installed in 11 school zones, including in front of Changwon Elementary School, to enhance children's traffic safety.
The installation of these yellow shade shelters was promoted to protect students from the scorching sunlight and to ensure their safety from vehicles during their commute to and from school.
An official from the district stated, "Drivers can recognize the school zones from a distance, which helps them to be cautious in advance," and added, "We plan to expand the installation of yellow shade shelters to other areas where the safety of children and other vulnerable traffic participants needs to be secured."
The locations where the shelters were installed are: ▲in front of Changwon Elementary School ▲three-way intersection in front of Sungmi Elementary School ▲Dobong Middle School intersection ▲intersection in front of Nuwon High School ▲opposite Sungmi Elementary School ▲in front of Nuwon Elementary School ▲opposite Nuwon Elementary School ▲Nokcheon Station entrance intersection ▲northwest side Changwon Elementary School intersection traffic island ▲Seondeok High School intersection ▲in front of Seondeok High School, totaling 11 locations.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "We expect this to greatly help protect children's health from heatstroke and also raise drivers' awareness of school zones, urging them to be cautious," and added, "We will continue to do our best to improve the walking environment for children."
Meanwhile, the district currently manages and operates 82 shade shelters at crosswalks to ensure residents' safety during summer signal waits.
