Protecting Teachers Too... Ulsan Office of Education Provides Emergency Support for All Teachers' Educational Activities Protection

The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education is launching emergency support for teachers who are experiencing difficulties due to infringements on educational activities.

On the 13th, the Ulsan Office of Education announced that teachers (including kindergarten teachers) who are struggling with malicious complaints or lawsuits can receive customized support such as psychological counseling, treatment, and legal assistance by applying for emergency support online.

Emergency support applications are open to all teachers, including those on sick leave or leave of absence, and can be submitted directly to the Office of Education without going through the school to ensure anonymity. Individual teachers can apply for emergency support until the 22nd.

Earlier, the Ulsan Office of Education conducted a survey last month targeting all teachers to identify cases of infringement on educational activities such as verbal abuse, threats, obstruction of work, and repeated complaints, and announced a comprehensive protection plan for educational activities in cooperation with five teachers' organizations. Along with emergency support, the Office is strengthening on-site customized protection of teachers' rights by activating the operation of the Emergency Support Team for Teachers' Rights Protection when incidents occur.

The Emergency Support Team for Teachers' Rights Protection provides initial response support and protection for affected teachers when incidents of infringement on educational activities occur at schools and are difficult to resolve independently at the school level.

The Emergency Support Team for Teachers' Rights Protection is composed of legal experts from the Office of Education, responsible supervisors, professional counselors, vice principals, and teachers. Currently, 18 members are active across all school levels, including kindergarten, elementary, middle, special schools, and others.

When a school experiencing infringement on educational activities requests the Emergency Support Team, the team is dispatched to the site to provide counseling, psychological treatment, and legal and administrative support simultaneously. They also offer one-stop customized support including assistance from specialists such as medical doctors or lawyers and support after the teacher’s return.

In cases where complaints cause mental or physical harm to teachers, if the affected teacher requests, the Office of Education plans to take legal action such as filing complaints with investigative agencies. The Emergency Support Team for Teachers' Rights Protection will actively support teachers affected by infringements on educational activities and respond to violations of the Child Welfare Act occurring during educational activities.
