Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, has officially started construction on the ‘Gochang Public Sewage Treatment Facility Expansion Project’ and is progressing smoothly.
According to the county on the 13th, the Gochang Public Sewage Treatment Facility Expansion Project is a response to the increase in wastewater volume due to the sale of plots in the Gochang New Vitality Industrial Complex, development of the Seokjeong Hot Spring District, and expansion of the sewage treatment area.
The sewage treatment capacity will be expanded from the current 16,000㎥ per day to 21,000㎥ per day. With an investment of 15.3 billion KRW, the project aims for completion in 2025.
Expansion of sewage treatment was essential to create a clean and sanitary residential environment and to prevent pollution of the Gochangcheon Stream.
The county has led negotiations through multiple meetings and opinion gathering sessions in response to opposition from nearby villages, actively reflecting residents’ opinions such as the suspension of compost manufacturing facilities.
The county plans to continue listening to residents’ voices during the project implementation to maintain ongoing communication with nearby residents, including those in Dosan Village.
A representative from the Gochang-gun Water and Sewage Business Office said, “We will continue to do our best to provide a pleasant environment not only for Gochang residents but also for tourists visiting Gochang, and to offer a clean and pristine image of Gochang.”
