Many Young Applicants Lead Income Increase Projects Utilizing Local Resources
Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Park Woo-ryang) has successfully completed the application process for rental housing, ranging from 10,000 KRW to a maximum of 150,000 KRW per month, as a policy to respond to population decline and the risk of regional extinction.
According to the county on the 12th, the recruitment for this rental housing targeted households with children (minors), youth, newlyweds, and people relocating to the area, resulting in a competition rate of over 2:1.

The county finalized the selection of tenants in early September, and the building and unit numbers were decided through a public lottery. Move-in is scheduled to begin on the 18th.
Additionally, tenants must complete their resident registration within one month of moving in and will live as residents of Shinan-gun. The lease period is two years, with one extension allowed for a maximum stay of four years.
Governor Park Woo-ryang stated, “The high number of young applicants for rental housing indicates that housing stability for the younger generation is the most urgent issue to address. Shinan-gun will focus on fostering eco-friendly high-income strategic projects such as fishing boat rental businesses and individual oyster support projects for the relocating youth, creating a Shinan where young people return and want to live.”
