The Korea Health Industry Development Institute announced on the 12th that it will hold the '2023 Smart Hospital Special Exhibition' (14th-16th) and the 'National Expansion Briefing Session' (14th) during the 2023 International Hospital & Medical Industry Expo held at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
Since 2020, the Institute has been supporting the digital transformation of domestic medical institutions by developing leading models for smart hospitals in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The smart hospital leading models began with developing solutions to respond to the era of constant crises such as medical staff shortages and infections, and have expanded to include solutions necessary for sustainable changes in medical sites, resulting in a total of 58 smart hospital leading models developed.
Since last year, the Institute has operated the 'Smart Hospital Expansion Support Center (Future Medical Team)' within the organization to help medical institutions understand smart hospitals and reduce unnecessary trial and error in the early stages of digital transformation, thereby supporting the stable expansion of excellent models throughout domestic medical institutions.
Additionally, since last year, the Institute has promoted a special exhibition at the International Hospital & Medical Industry Expo that integrally showcases the future hospital image where smart hospital leading models are implemented centered on the patient journey. It also provides opportunities to share the know-how of leading hospitals. This year, the exhibition will focus on work support solutions addressing nursing staff shortages and will offer smart hospital systems and experiential opportunities aimed at enhancing patient experience.
In particular, this exhibition will not only introduce leading models but also showcase the current status of customized expansion support for public hospital smart hospitalization achieved through public-private cooperation among the government, the Institute, and smart hospital leading hospitals over the past three years, as well as the global advancement achievements of the K-Smart Hospital system through the expansion hall. A total of five medical institutions and consortia that developed smart hospital leading models will participate in the smart hospital special exhibition, cooperating to share experiences in building leading models in medical sites and providing hands-on opportunities.
Starting this year, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Welfare, regional expansion briefing sessions will also be held to enhance the educational effectiveness regarding acceptance and digital competency strengthening of medical personnel about the introduction and sustainable utilization of smart hospital leading models. As part of this, the '2nd National Expansion Briefing Session for Smart Hospitals' will be held on the 14th. The briefing session, under the theme 'Messages Delivered by Smart Hospital Leading Models,' will share key success factors such as establishing a solid smart hospital culture after technology adoption and operational strategies for leading models in response to changes in the medical environment.
The briefing session will be held offline, and pre-registration for offline attendance is available online until the 13th.
Director Cha Sun-do of the Institute stated, “While the development of excellent technology is important, the core lies in properly establishing and sustainably operating it in medical sites.” He added, “Since the stable operation of smart hospital solutions is linked to management efficiency, we will strive to resolve anticipated difficulties in digital transformation for domestic medical institutions through experiential knowledge gained from operating smart hospital leading models.”
