"Checking the Fasting List, Stepping on the Second Cross"
"Harsh but Must Pass... Rejection Means Bulletproof Hell"
Regarding the issue of running for Gyeyang, former Democratic Party Emergency Committee member Park Ji-hyun, who had clashed with Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party, visited him the day before and showed tears, saying "I will create a recovery meal for you." Democratic Party lawmaker Cho Eung-cheon described this as "surreal and grotesque."
On the 12th, Cho said on SBS's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show,' "It was such a sudden turnaround without any intermediate steps."
Until recently, Park, who had been at odds with Leader Lee, showed a reversal in attitude that seemed surreal. In response to the host's question, "Why did Park act like that?" he said, "I don't know. Maybe she was too pathetic or felt pity, so she acted that way."
Although key figures within the party have visited Leader Lee to request that he stop his hunger strike, Cho has not yet visited him. Regarding the reason, Cho said, "I originally planned to visit once he lay down, but I heard they check the list there, and I thought it would be really hard for me to go under those circumstances," adding, "It felt like I was scared to go because of the list check."
When asked by the host if the list check could become a second form of crucifixion, he said, "In any case, distinguishing between those who came, those who didn't, those who agreed, and those who didn't, and having YouTubers film it and supporters treat people differently, I think that is a kind of crucifixion."
He predicted that an arrest warrant for Leader Lee would be requested during the week. He said, "If they don't issue a warrant, how can the prosecution explain all this chaos so far, with Kim Seong-tae doing this, Lee Hwa-young doing that, and what happened in court?" He added, "After today's investigation, preparations for issuing the warrant are almost complete. Once the report is submitted, the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office will roughly finish the records and transfer the case to the Central District Prosecutors' Office to consolidate it, and the warrant will be issued sometime this week."
Within the party, as sympathy grows alongside the prolongation of Leader Lee's hunger strike, voices are increasing that even if a motion to consent to arrest is submitted, it should be rejected. However, Cho holds the position that it should be approved. He said, "As the leader said, even if it goes forward, it will be dismissed, and the leader also stated this definitively in his representative speech." He continued, "It is really harsh to tell someone who is currently on a hunger strike and struggling to keep their promise, but if we reject it here, what are we going to say to the people in the remaining general election, and how can we ask for votes? We will be trapped in a 'bulletproof hell.'"
