Food and daily necessities donated to 22 community centers and Gangnam Food Support Center during the 4 weeks around Chuseok holiday from September 11 to October 6
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will conduct the food sharing campaign for vulnerable groups, "A Spoonful of Heart," at the Gangnam Food Support Center and 22 neighborhoods from September 11 to October 6, covering four weeks before and after the Chuseok holiday.
This project is a campaign to convey the spirit of neighborly love and support vulnerable groups during the holiday season by sharing food and daily necessities collectively with neighbors in need.
Residents who wish to participate can place food and daily necessities into donation boxes installed at the District Office Welfare Policy Division, 22 neighborhood community centers, and the Gangnam Food Support Center.
The items will be collected by the center, sorted, and inspected before being distributed to vulnerable groups such as families in urgent crisis, low-income multicultural families, and the elderly.
Donations can include long-lasting food items such as canned goods, canned beverages, ramen, and rice. Items such as meat, frozen foods, and foods nearing their expiration date are excluded. For fresh food donations, donors must consult directly with the center regarding freshness maintenance. Additionally, daily necessities such as clothing, tissue paper, and toothpaste can also be donated.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, "I hope the spirit of caring for neighbors in need spreads widely so that everyone can have a warm and abundant holiday." He added, "We will continue to walk with vulnerable groups and carry out various campaigns to practice a culture of sharing."
