Grandpa Pubao: "Everland Next Year Will Be Turned Upside Down by Twin Pandas"

Steel-won Kang, a zookeeper nicknamed "Grandpa Pubao," recently said in a lecture, "Next year, Everland will be completely taken over." This confident statement reflects his belief that the twin baby pandas will become so popular that they will turn Everland upside down next year.

On the 8th, a video of Zookeeper Kang Steel-won's book live lecture titled "Baby Panda Pubao" was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'Talking Zoo Pubba TV.' In this lecture, Kang mentioned the timing of the twins' public debut and other details.

Kang said, "Let me give you a tip in advance: there will soon be a time when the twins can meet their mother together," adding, "Right now, they are being cared for alternately every 10 days, but when they reach about 4 months old, both twins will be able to go to their mother."

He continued, "At that time, the babies will be able to walk. They start to take their first steps around 0 days, and by about 5 months, they can walk and follow their mother," adding, "(From then on) Aibao will take the babies along and come out to meet you all. Won't I be cute?"

Currently, mother Aibao finds it difficult to care for both baby pandas simultaneously, so the twins are growing up alternating between the zookeeper and their mother's care. From around 4 months old, when they start walking, both babies can be cared for by mother Aibao.

The twin siblings of Pubao, the first giant panda born in Korea, were born on July 7. Both are female; at birth, the first and second weighed 180g and 140g respectively, but now each weighs over 3 kg. It is reported that they have begun to move their bodies and use their senses according to their own will.

The names of the twin pandas have not yet been decided. Currently, they are nicknamed '1bao·2bao' or 'First Bao·Second Bao.' When the baby pandas reach 6 months old, they will undergo an adaptation process to the external environment and then meet visitors.

Earlier, Kang Steel-won, a 36-year veteran zookeeper, became the 'butler' of the panda family after meeting Lubao and Aibao, who came from China in 2016. In 2020, he became a 'grandpa' when Pubao, the twins' older sister, was born.

Pubao is the most popular panda star at Yongin Everland, ranking first in the overall KakaoTalk emoticon popularity chart just one day after its release. Pubao is Korea's first baby panda, born naturally in July 2020 to mother Aibao and father Lubao.
