Busan University of Foreign Studies Opens Busan Citizen University Campus ... Free English Learning Opportunities Provided

Busan University of Foreign Studies is offering a ‘Practical English for Citizens’ program within the university as part of the ‘Busan Citizen University Campus Operation’ project by the Busan Women and Family and Lifelong Education Promotion Institute, providing free English learning opportunities to adult learners in Busan.


The program will begin on October 4 and will be held five times a week, Monday through Friday, from 6:50 PM to 8:50 PM for two hours each session over 10 weeks.


The courses include ▲Speak & Listen Smart ▲Basic Speaking and English Grammar ▲English Conversation for Adults ▲English Reading through Fairy Tales and Essays ▲Word Master: Learning Easy and Correct Words, totaling five subjects.

Registration can be completed on the Busan Citizen University website and is on a first-come, first-served basis for three weeks from the 4th to the 24th. The tuition is completely free for all Busan citizens and includes various benefits such as free parking and free use of the library.


Additionally, those who complete the courses will be eligible for the ‘Learning History Recognition System,’ which grants credit recognition for completed courses when enrolling in the ‘Citizen English Education Department’ at Busan University of Foreign Studies.


Professor Kim Yong-gu, head of the Practical English for Citizens Department, stated, “Through the Practical English for Citizens Department, we aim to realize Busan as a lifelong learning city where anyone can learn anytime and anywhere.”


He added, “We expect this program to bridge the gap in English education across regions and expand physical accessibility to lifelong English learning. Since it is offered as a free course, we hope many Busan citizens will participate.”
