The largest youth baseball tournament in the country, the ‘2023 U-15 National Youth Baseball Tournament,’ will be held on the 13th at Gijang Hyundai Dream Ball Park within Gijang Baseball Theme Park.
Hosted by Gijang-gun, Busan, and the Korea Baseball Softball Association, and co-organized by the Korea Baseball Softball Association and Busan Baseball & Softball Association, this tournament will take place from the 13th to the 24th over 12 days at Dream Ball Park and Jangancheon Baseball Stadium.
The 2023 U-15 National Youth Baseball Tournament features 129 teams and over 4,000 participants aged 15 and under, divided into three leagues named after Gijang-gun’s local designations: Osiria, Haepalanggil, and Ahopsan Forest, competing in a spirit of fair play. Admission to the games is free for everyone, and the tournament schedule can be found on the Gijang-gun website.
Dream Ball Park, the venue for the tournament, has successfully hosted several events including the 2016 WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup, the 2018 International Baseball Festival, the 29th WBSC World Youth Baseball Championship, the 2019 U-12 National Youth Baseball Tournament and National Women’s Baseball Tournament, and the 2022 U-15 National Youth Baseball Tournament. The 2024 U-15 National Youth Baseball Tournament is also scheduled to be held here.
Jung Jong-bok, the mayor of Gijang-gun, said, “We are very pleased to host the nation’s largest youth baseball tournament in Gijang-gun. We hope the tournament will be safe with no injuries during the event, and that all participants will fully demonstrate their skills and compete fairly.”
The Gijang Baseball Theme Park, where the tournament is held, houses Korea’s first public baseball museum (Korea Baseball Hall of Fame), a baseball experience center, and an indoor baseball practice facility.
