Why Did the 'Cheongnyeom Golden Bell' Ring Out in Jung-gu, Seoul?

Jung-gu District Office in Seoul (Mayor Kim Gil-seong) held the "Challenge! Integrity Golden Bell" event for its employees on the 7th. The purpose was to spread a culture of integrity and create a space for communication among staff.

The event kicked off with Mayor Kim Gil-seong presenting the recently revised Anti-Graft Act as the first question. Questions covered laws related to anti-corruption such as the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act, Public Officials Ethics Act, and the Anti-Graft Act, as well as the Code of Conduct that public officials must follow. Participants solved problems in various ways, taking time to reflect on the value of integrity together.

Ten individuals who scored high in the preliminary round advanced to the finals. The ultimate winner was Baek Ji-hye, an administrative officer from the Sports and Tourism Division, who was selected as the last person standing and rang the Golden Bell. The atmosphere was lively with participants being cheered on by their respective departments.

One participating employee said, “Solving problems in the Golden Bell format helped me easily and enjoyably organize confusing points,” adding, “Based on what I learned today, I will strive to practice trustworthy ethical administration in my future duties.”

Mayor Kim Gil-seong of Jung-gu said, “It is important for public officials to act according to the law, but having a clear conscience is also integrity,” and added, “I believe our employees will pursue integrity through responsible actions.”
