Prosecutor's Re-summon Called "A Sign of Prosecutorial Defeat"
"Can They Really Request a Warrant?"
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, has been fasting for the 12th day, and Go Min-jung, a Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party, strongly criticized the presidential office and the ruling party leader for not inquiring about Lee's well-being at all.
On the 10th, Go said on MBN's 'Sisa Special,' "Usually, someone above the Senior Secretary for Political Affairs in the presidential office would come, even if they cannot directly convey the president's words, they should at least ask about his health and well-being, and the ruling party leader should also inquire about his condition. Isn't that normal?"

He said, "Whether pro-Lee or anti-Lee factions, various people both inside and outside the National Assembly are saying, 'Can the government or ruling party really behave like this to this extent?' A representative incident is the disturbance caused by Rep. Tae Young-ho," adding, "Our political circle has a minimum level of courtesy and a line of duty as human beings, but this situation has crossed that line."
He argued that Rep. Tae Young-ho of the People Power Party, who visited the fasting Lee and requested disciplinary action against Rep. Park Young-soon of the Democratic Party, who called him 'trash from North Korea,' crossed the line of duty.
Regarding the prosecution's re-summon notice, he said, "Despite knowing this person's health condition, is this really a politically appropriate decision by the prosecution?" and added, "I think this is rather a move that signals a losing hand."
Go said, "Respecting human rights even for criminals is a fundamental principle of a democratic country," and "However, not only is he not a criminal, but his physical condition is quite poor due to fasting, and after 10 days, anyone can clearly understand his condition, yet he only appeared at 10 p.m. for the investigation, and now there is an additional summons."
Go predicted that the prosecution would not request an arrest warrant. He said, "From the perspective of the People Power Party and the government, they see that the Democratic Party is always stirred up because of Lee's presence, and every time the prosecution's investigation comes out, there is commotion, so they might want to hold on to this issue until next year's general election," adding, "If they request an arrest warrant now, it could lead to some kind of resolution between the left and right factions, so I am somewhat critical about whether they will actually request the warrant."
