A series centered around the movie 'Aema Buin' set in 1980s Chungmuro is coming out.
Online video service (OTT) Netflix announced on the 11th that it will produce a new series titled 'Aema'.
'Aema' is a Netflix series depicting the struggles of Hee-ran and Joo-ae during the creation process of the film 'Aema Buin', which swept Korea in the early 1980s. Set in 1980s Chungmuro, it is a fictional comedy that unfolds stories of actors' intense lives behind the glamorous glory.
Actress Lee Ha-nee plays Jung Hee-ran, the top actress of the time who lost the lead role in 'Aema Buin' due to conflicts with the producer. Rookie actress Bang Hyo-rin was cast as Shin Joo-ae, the newcomer chosen as the lead in 'Aema Buin'. Jin Sun-kyu plays producer Goo Joong-ho, and Jo Hyun-chul portrays the timid rookie director Kwak In-woo.
The script and direction are by director Lee Hae-young, known for 'Champion Madonna' (2006), 'Believer' (2018), and 'Phantom'. The series is produced by The Lamp.
