Gangnam-gu Holds First 'Youth Day' Event

Gangnam-gu (Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will hold the ‘Youth Day’ event from the 16th to the 17th at the Gangnam Startup and Employment Hub Center and COEX Live Plaza.

This event is the first youth festival held in Gangnam-gu. To listen to the voices of young people and reflect them in policies, the event prepared ‘Youth Policy Protection Zone,’ where youth directly propose policies, and the ‘Relay Youth Special Lecture,’ which gives hope and inspiration to young people.

On the 16th, from 1 PM to 5 PM, the youth policy competition ‘Youth Policy Protection Zone’ will be held at the Gangnam Startup and Employment Hub Center. The district received policy proposals covering all areas such as jobs, economy, culture, and welfare for youth development from August 24 to September 6. Among the 34 teams that applied, 6 teams were selected through preliminary screening, and on the 16th, policy presentation evaluations by the 6 teams will be conducted at the event venue. After judging, awards and prize money will be given: 1 grand prize team will receive 1,000,000 KRW, 2 excellence prize teams will receive 700,000 KRW each, and 3 merit prize teams will receive 500,000 KRW each. The winning works will be actively reflected in Gangnam-gu’s youth policies.

On the 17th, from 2 PM to 5 PM, the ‘Relay Youth Special Lecture’ will be held at COEX Live Plaza. The speakers include Professor Lee Ji-seon, who overcame the pain of full-body burns from a traffic accident and became a professor at her alma mater after 23 years; Anchor Heo Woo-ryeong, who overcame visual impairment and became an announcer, her childhood dream; YouTuber Shin A-ro-mi, who creates content about living her life doing what she wants, such as meditation and travel; and author Kim Do-yoon, who runs a YouTube channel on financial technology with 1.7 million subscribers.

During the Youth Special Lecture, after each session, a ‘Diligent Student Certification Event’ will be held where participants post certification shots and hashtags (#GangnamYouthDay #YouthSpecialLecture) to receive gifts. At the Experience and Event Zone, participants can take four-cut photo booths and make grip tokens. Additionally, a promotional zone will operate to provide information on various youth policies of Gangnam-gu.

Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “We have prepared a place to raise voices together on youth issues such as career decisions, employment problems, and workplace conflicts that young people have recently experienced,” and added, “We will listen to the proposals of young people and reflect them in Gangnam-gu policies to do our best to solve the difficulties faced by youth together.”
