Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) held the 'Latin America Festival' on the 9th at Seongbukcheon Fountain Maru (Exit 2 of Hansung University Station on Line 4) and the surrounding area of Seongbukcheon.

Hans Alexander Kneider, Honorary Mayor of Seongbuk-dong, declared the opening, and the festival began amid congratulations from ambassadors of various countries and other distinguished guests.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the 'Latin America Festival' showcased a variety of attractions and foods with the participation and support of 14 Latin American embassies, including the Embassy of Guatemala in Korea.

Seongbuk-gu operated a total of 23 sales and experience booths at this festival. The sales booths offered Latin American foods such as anticucho, empanada, taco, and pupusa, as well as souvenirs full of Latin American character, including traditional hats, musical instruments, accessories, and specialty products. At the experience booths, visitors enjoyed wearing traditional Latin American costumes and playing various musical instruments.

Additionally, attendees experienced Latin American culture vividly in Seongbuk-gu through performances of tango, Zumba, Latin dance, traditional musical instrument performances, and demonstrations of the Brazilian traditional martial art Capoeira.

Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, said, “The Latin America Festival, which started in 2011, has now become a representative global festival in Seoul. We have prepared the festival with our best efforts so that both locals and foreigners in Seongbuk-gu can feel the individuality and passion of Latin America and share friendship in a harmonious space. We hope everyone enjoys the festival.”
