Ulsan Dong-gu has been identified as the region with the highest average National Pension benefit per person among 229 cities and counties nationwide.

According to the National Pension Service's "Average Monthly Benefit per Person by City/County" data and Yonhap News on the 10th, as of the latest statistics in May, Ulsan Dong-gu received the highest average National Pension (including old-age, disability, and survivor pensions) benefit, with 884,532 KRW per person per month. This amount is about 320,000 KRW (57%) higher than the national average of 563,679 KRW.

Ulsan Dong-gu has long held the top spot in National Pension benefit statistics because it is home to HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, which employs many high-income workers. The second place is also in Ulsan, with Ulsan Buk-gu, where Hyundai Motor Company is located, recording an average monthly benefit of 819,960 KRW per person. Additionally, Ulsan Nam-gu (6th place, 729,342 KRW) and Jung-gu (9th place, 692,377 KRW) also ranked within the top 10, making a total of four Ulsan districts in the top 10.

The third place is Gwacheon-si in Gyeonggi-do, where the average monthly National Pension benefit per person is 796,789 KRW, followed by Seoul Gangnam-gu (790,215 KRW) and Seocho-gu (785,039 KRW), ranking 4th and 5th respectively. Other regions in the top 10 include Geoje-si in Gyeongsangnam-do (7th place, 728,936 KRW), Seoul Songpa-gu (8th place, 707,339 KRW), and Daejeon Yuseong-gu (10th place, 676,712 KRW).

Compared to the statistics from December 2021, the first place remains Ulsan Dong-gu, but Ulsan Buk-gu, which was 4th then, rose two places to 2nd, while Gangnam-gu, which was 2nd, dropped to 4th, swapping their rankings.

In the statistics by 17 metropolitan cities and provinces, Ulsan maintained the top spot with an average monthly benefit per person of 745,936 KRW. This amount is more than 140,000 KRW higher than the second place, Sejong (603,823 KRW). The third place was Seoul (602,580 KRW), followed by Gyeonggi (589,942 KRW) and Incheon (570,610 KRW). The region with the lowest benefit amount was Jeonnam (483,025 KRW).
