Geumcheon-gu Senior Club Selected as an Excellent Institution for the 'Senior Job Support Project'

Operating 15 Businesses Providing Jobs to Over 1,050 People

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that the Geumcheon Senior Club (Director Kim Seon-woong), a dedicated institution for senior job placement, has been selected as an excellent institution for three consecutive years in the "2023 Senior Job and Social Activity Support Project Performance Evaluation" conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

The evaluation was conducted on 1,268 institutions nationwide that carried out senior job projects in 2022. Through the review, only 198 institutions were selected as excellent institutions.

The Geumcheon Senior Club was selected as an excellent institution in the "Social Service Type" category and received a performance bonus of 5 million KRW. It received high marks for efforts to create jobs, compliance with selection procedures, participant activity, and safety education.

The Geumcheon Senior Club operates 15 projects, including the convenience store run by seniors called "Chakhan Sanghoe," the "Hamkke Green Cafe" where seniors work as baristas, "Geumbit Delivery" which delivers goods to apartment complexes and commercial areas, and "Uri Dongne Recycling" which collects and sells recyclables, providing jobs to about 1,050 people.

"Chakhan Sanghoe," Seoul's first senior-run convenience store, is preparing to open its third branch this month.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, "Together with the Geumcheon Senior Club, we will continuously increase quality jobs for seniors and create a 'Happy Age-Friendly City Geumcheon.'"
