Yongsan-gu Hosts the 10th Annual Family Forest Festival for Young Children Last Year's Family Forest Festival for Young Children

Yongsan-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Hee-young) will hold the 10th Early Childhood Forest Family Festival "Dunggae Dunggae Playing and Resting in the Forest with Children" on the 16th at Eungbong Early Childhood Forest Experience Center (San 8-1, Hannam-dong).

The purpose is to provide young children with opportunities to experience nature in the city, helping to foster their imagination and creativity.

The festival will be attended by 600 families with preschool children aged 4 to 7. Among them, 300 families from regular user institutions such as daycare centers that frequently use the early childhood forest were recruited in advance.

General families, 300 in total, who started applying from 9 a.m. on the 4th through the Seoul public service reservation website, filled all spots within two days.

On the day of the festival, the event will be held in two groups at 9:20 a.m. and 11:10 a.m., each lasting 1 hour and 20 minutes.

The festival features a total of eight programs under three themes: ▲Nature Experience ▲Family-Friendly ▲Forest Rest. As a side event, a singer-long show "Mom Katuli" is prepared, where children sing along with characters.

The nature experience includes ▲The Journey of Seeds ▲Squirrel Piggy Bank ▲Smelling Fragrant Plants.

In The Journey of Seeds, children learn how seeds propagate. The Squirrel Piggy Bank is an experience where children collect acorns and store them for animals to eat during winter. In Smelling Fragrant Plants, children touch leaves and fruits such as Korean chrysanthemum, mint flowers, and cypress tree fruits, and experience their scents.

For family-friendly activities, ▲Sun Rope ▲Guess the Animal Name ▲Catch the Mole ▲Spider Web Play are prepared to strengthen family bonds.

Sun Rope involves several parents pulling radial ropes to lift children up towards the sky. Spider Web Play teaches about radial and spiral threads and involves moving around without getting caught in the spider web.

Forest rest is a time for families to lie down and relax while looking at the sky through the canopy.

To ensure a safe festival, the district will conduct patrols and environmental maintenance before the event. Safety personnel and an ambulance will also be deployed to prepare for any emergencies.

Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, "The hot summer is over, and the season for enjoying outdoor activities with family has arrived. I hope children can fully enjoy and rest with their families in nature, creating joyful memories."
