Four Silver Green Leaders Promote Single-Use Plastic Regulation by Serving Drinks and Tea in Tumblers... Campaign Scheduled Every Last Wednesday of the Month Until November at Sangwolgok Silver Welfare Center
Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro), together with Sangwol-gok Silver Welfare Center (Director Kim Kyung-hoe), promoted the 'Day of Using Reusable Cups' event on September 6th for residents visiting the district office in celebration of Resource Circulation Day.
This event was held with the purpose of encouraging people to distance themselves from disposable products and embrace reusable items in daily life, ahead of the end of the grace period for the expanded disposable product usage regulation system implemented last year.
On this day, over 300 residents who visited the district office with tumblers were served beverages and tea by four Silver Green Leaders from the Silver Welfare Center, who also promoted the importance of resource circulation and raised awareness about the 'Disposable Product Usage Regulation,' whose grace period ends in November.
The campaign will continue every last Wednesday of the month until November at Sangwol-gok Silver Welfare Center (Hwarang-ro 18-gil 6).
Mayor Lee Seung-ro stated, “If we temporarily set aside convenience in daily life and use reusable products for the sake of the Earth and the environment, Seongbuk-gu and the planet will be places where our descendants can live well. I will continue to lead by example and refuse disposable products first when visiting restaurants and cafes,” adding, “We will do our best to create a Seongbuk free of disposable products and plastics.”
Since February, Seongbuk-gu has been promoting the end of the grace period and the target items of the disposable product usage regulation to food service establishments. So far, 1,370 locations have been visited, and continuous promotion will be carried out through inspection and publicity teams composed of participants in the co-working job support project.
