Disney Announces November Subscription Plan Revision
Two Plans: 9,900 KRW and 13,900 KRW per Month
The global online video service (OTT) Disney Plus (Disney+) announced that it will revise its subscription plans starting November 1. This effectively means a monthly subscription fee increase of 4,000 KRW.
The Walt Disney Company Korea announced on its website on the 6th that new subscribers after November 1 will be subject to new membership types and subscription fee policies.
Subscribers joining after November 1 can choose between two plans: Disney+ Standard at 9,900 KRW per month (99,000 KRW annually) and Disney+ Premium at 13,900 KRW per month (139,000 KRW annually). The technical specifications such as video quality, audio, and the number of devices that can stream simultaneously will vary depending on the chosen membership type.
For the Standard membership, video quality is up to Full HD 1080p, audio supports up to 5.1 surround sound, and simultaneous streaming is allowed on 2 devices. The Premium plan offers video quality up to 4K Ultra HD & HDR, audio up to Dolby Atmos, and simultaneous streaming on 4 devices. Both types have no advertisements and allow content downloads.
Subscribers who joined before November 1 can continue to use Disney+ Premium at the existing price (9,900 KRW per month, 99,000 KRW annually). However, if they cancel or change their subscription and then resubscribe after November 1, the new membership policy will apply.
Disney Korea stated, "We plan to continuously present a wider range of global brand content, exclusive original content, and high-quality local storytelling collections, providing subscribers with better value and more choices."
Along with this, Disney Korea is running a special promotion until 3:59 PM on the 21st, offering new and returning Disney+ subscribers a one-year subscription at a discounted price of 58,900 KRW, approximately 41% off.
Meanwhile, since the release of the original series "Moving" on the 9th of last month, Disney+ has continued its success by recording the highest-ever weekly app usage time. "Moving" is a 20-episode superhero action series about children hiding superpowers living in the present and parents who have lived with painful secrets from the past, facing a great danger that transcends time and generations together.
