Wishing Success for the 33rd Gyeongbuk Residents' Sports Festival
Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, will host the "2023 Uljin Geumgangsong Cup National Marathon" at Uljin Sports Complex on September 10th to wish for the success of the 33rd Gyeongbuk Provincial Residents' Sports Festival.
Co-hosted by the Uljin-gun Sports Council and the Uljin-gun Athletics Federation, this event will feature around 2,000 participants competing in half marathon, 10 km, 5 km, and 3 km categories.
The marathon course runs through the section from Uljin Sports Complex ↔ Sugok Bridge (3 km turnaround) ↔ Noeum Intersection (5 km turnaround) ↔ Pine Pension (10 km turnaround) ↔ Jinbok 2-ri Welfare Center (half marathon turnaround). Runners can enjoy the pristine natural beauty of Uljin, especially the scenic coastal views along the route.
In March, the county successfully and safely hosted the 61st Gyeongbuk Provincial Residents' Sports Festival and has been recognized for its expertise in organizing over 20 nationwide events annually.
To ensure a safe event, traffic control will be enforced from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM along the route between Uljin Sports Complex and Jinbok 2-ri Welfare Center. The county plans to promote this through the county office website, government news text messages, Naver Band, and village announcement broadcasts.
County Governor Son Byung-bok stated, "I hope this event becomes a precious festival where marathon enthusiasts from across the country strengthen friendship and harmony, creating good memories in Uljin along with the joy of completion." He added, "We will do our best to ensure the successful hosting of the 33rd Gyeongbuk Provincial Residents' Sports Festival starting on September 22."
