Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) will hold the 'Seongbuk Youth Day Festival: Just Start, We Will Be There' on the 16th at Seongbukcheon Fountain Maru (Exit 2 of Hansung University Station) to commemorate Youth Day.

The festival will run from 12 PM to 5 PM, with the opening ceremony at 1:30 PM.

This festival is organized to commemorate Youth Day (the third Saturday of September every year) as defined by the Youth Basic Act, aiming to provide a communication platform for Seongbuk youth whose social activity opportunities have been reduced due to COVID-19, and to raise awareness of youth issues.

The festival’s slogan, “Just Start, We Will Be There,” conveys a message of encouragement to young people hesitating to embark on a journey to find their career, identity, and preferences in the face of the uncertainty called the future. This festival was created through the hands of the “Seongbuk Youth Festival Planning Group.” The planning group was formed by universities located in Seongbuk-gu, the Seongbuk Youth Policy Network, Seongbuk Cultural Foundation, Seongbuk-gu youth spaces, youth organizations, and youth support institutions, who together devised the festival slogan and booth programs.

Seongbuk-gu is home to the largest number of universities among autonomous districts nationwide, with eight universities, and is a representative youth city where about 30% of the population consists of young people. Based on its youth-friendly characteristics, Seongbuk-gu is implementing various youth support policies such as ▲ Campus Town development ▲ Revitalization of Gireum Youth Startup Street ▲ Operation of Seongbuk Youth Policy Network ▲ University-linked K-Beauty Employment Academy ▲ Support for socially isolated youth ▲ Operation of youth spaces.

Through the 'Seongbuk Youth Day Festival: Just Start, We Will Be There,' visitors can directly experience Seongbuk-gu’s youth support policies along with the brilliant activities of Seongbuk youth.

At the festival, along with the opening ceremony, dance, hip-hop, and band performances by university clubs located in Seongbuk-gu, as well as a congratulatory performance by a band of isolated youth, will be staged. Various experience booths will also be set up to offer interesting experiences to visiting residents. There will be a youth K-Beauty experience corner operated by beauty-related departments of Seokyeong University, Sungshin Women’s University, and Hansung University; a pop-up store showcasing challenges of Seongbuk youth entrepreneurs; promotion of Seongbuk youth spaces and youth organizations; youth policy quizzes; recycling games; CPR experience; and various promotional and experiential booths for youth.

Mayor Lee Seung-ro said, “I sincerely support Seongbuk youth who are about to embark on a journey toward the future, and Seongbuk-gu will actively support so that the journey of youth finding themselves can be happy and safe.”
