On that morning, Kim, along with three former Innovation Committee members, visited Lee's hunger strike tent in front of the National Assembly main building and made these remarks.

When Lee responded to Kim's inquiry about his health by saying, "I have difficulty digesting water," Kim said, "This is a matter of life and death. You really have to fight with all your might. I also overcame a critical moment."

On July 30, during a youth roundtable, Kim had remarked, "Why should those with a shorter future vote one-on-one?" referencing a conversation she once had with her son. This statement was interpreted as suggesting that voting rights should be proportionate to remaining lifespan, sparking controversy over ageism against the elderly. Subsequently, while apologizing to the President of the Korean Senior Citizens Association for the ageist remarks, Kim stated, "After my husband passed away, I cared for my in-laws for 18 years." However, Kim's sister-in-law refuted this as "false," leading to further family revelations and eventually legal disputes. The Innovation Committee had originally planned to operate until early September but ended its activities early last month.

Lee said, "In the world, there are many people with good intentions, but although those with ill intentions are a minority, like bad water overpowering good water, they are polluting the world." He added, "Among them, there are even people who are not truly human." He then comforted Kim by saying, "You have endured so much."
