Verification of Over 170 Fake News
"Sharing Fact-Checks with Citizens"
On the 7th, the Barun Media Citizens' Action announced that it has launched the country's first 'Fake News Archive.'
According to Barun Media on the day, the archive consists of two sections: 'Fake News Archive' and 'Fake News of the Month and List,' containing fact-checks of over 170 fake news items and showing the impact of fake news on our society.
The 'Fake News Archive' includes fake news starting from February 23 last year, when Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate at the time, said on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' that "I am 100% sure that Yoon Seok-yeol is the mastermind behind the Daejang-dong development special favor," as well as fake news related to Kim Kun-hee's Twitter silver mark (August 13, 2023).
Barun Media stated, "Currently, if you type Kim Eo-jun or Kim Ui-gyeom in the archive's search bar, 13 and 6 related fake news items appear respectively," adding, "Among broadcasting channels, MBC has the most with 20 items."
Another section, 'Fake News of the Month and List,' is a database that gathers ▲ fake news during the first year since the Yoon Seok-yeol government inauguration ▲ fake news of the month ▲ 19 types of Fukushima fake news in one place. In particular, 'Fake News of the Month' is jointly announced by Barun Media, the Fair Media National Solidarity, the National Professors' Association for Social Justice, and Shinjeon Daehyeop.
Barun Media said, "Through the report participation section, we will share the fact-checking process of fake news and distorted false information with citizens," and "We hope for active participation."
