Hanwha Systems and LIG Nex1 Sign Business Agreement
Hosting Investment Briefing on the 7th, Launching 'Gumi City Sales' Effort
The '2023 Gyeongsangbuk-do Aerospace Defense Logistics Expo' opened on the 6th for a three-day schedule.
The opening ceremony was attended by key guests including Governor Lee Cheol-woo, Mayor Kim Jang-ho, Chairman Ahn Joo-chan of the City Council, Air Force Logistics Command Commander Park Chil-ho, Consul General Chen Lybiao of China in Busan, and about 1,000 spectators.
The city, together with Gyeongbuk Province, signed a business agreement with Hanwha Systems and LIG Nex1, taking the first step toward a successful expo. Through this agreement, they agreed to strengthen cooperation to foster the advanced aerospace electronic defense industry by discovering joint projects between aerospace defense companies and local businesses and revitalizing industrial cooperation.
This expo involves over 70 related companies and institutions to promote the activation of Daegu-Gyeongbuk New Airport and the development of related local industries, featuring various programs such as ▲corporate exhibitions and promotions ▲aerospace, defense, and logistics specialized seminars ▲MOUs for industrial cooperation ▲career exploration concerts for students aspiring to related fields ▲and experiential events at affiliated universities.
On the 7th, the city will hold a corporate investment briefing session. It will actively engage in sales activities, including hosting a networking luncheon, focusing administrative efforts to make the expo not just a simple exhibition event but one that achieves tangible investment attraction and results. The city plans to highlight the strengths of Gumi, which possesses the largest industrial infrastructure in the region, including the semiconductor specialized complex and the defense industry innovation cluster selection.
Mayor Kim Jang-ho stated, “We will do our best to make Gumi a defense industry mecca by taking advantage of the selection of the defense industry innovation cluster,” adding, “Our goal is for Gumi to grow into a central city of the airport economic zone by building urban infrastructure and improving residential conditions, thereby establishing a global economic industrial logistics city.”
The city plans to strive to become the central city of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk New Airport economic zone through continuous networking with participating companies at the expo. It will actively promote related projects such as ▲the 'Gumi Future City Forum' to establish a future development strategy for Gumi ▲the launch of the 'Aerospace Industry Thinknet,' a cooperation network among companies, universities, affiliated institutions, and cities/counties within Gyeongsangbuk-do ▲a research project to establish a basic plan for fostering the aerospace electronics industry ▲and a research project to establish a development strategy for the aerospace logistics industry, accelerating the establishment of the economic zone and ecosystem of the new airport scheduled to open in 2030.
