Uljin-gun Wins Grand Prize at Gyeongbuk Province Youth Policy Proposal Contest

The Youth Participation Committee of Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk, won the Grand Prize (Chairman of Gyeongsangbuk-do Award) at the '2023 Gyeongsangbuk-do Youth Policy Proposal Contest' held on September 2nd at the Cheongsong-gun Culture and Arts Center.

The Gyeongbuk-do Youth Policy Proposal Contest was hosted by Gyeongbuk Province and organized by the Gyeongbuk Youth Development Foundation Activity Promotion Center to promote youth rights and discover effective youth policies.


The Uljin-gun Youth Participation Committee was represented by Choi Yoon-min and Kim Se-a, students of Uljin Middle School, who presented under the theme "Guaranteeing Youth Mobility! An Investment for the Future." Their proposal included support for transportation costs for rural youth, designation of youth protection zones in front of middle and high schools and youth centers, and strengthening crackdowns on illegal electric scooters. These issues were identified as inconveniences for local youth through regular meetings and were compiled into their proposal.


County Governor Son Byung-bok said, "I sincerely congratulate the Uljin-gun Youth Operation Committee on winning the Grand Prize, and I hope this will encourage youth to continue to take an active interest and participate in local community policies." He added, "Our county will do its best to support youth activities so that the thoughts of young people become policies and their dreams become the future of Uljin."


On September 9th, the Uljin-gun Youth Harmony Festival, featuring various performances such as book readings, saxophone, band, and dance, is scheduled to be held at Yeonho Park.
