Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and SH Corporation President Kim Heon-dong Agree on SH Corporation Headquarters Relocation to Jungnang-gu
Min Byeong-ju, Chairman of the Housing and Space Committee of the Seoul Metropolitan Council and city councilor of the People Power Party representing Jungnang-gu District 4, announced on the 4th that a final agreement had been reached with SH Corporation regarding the relocation of SH Corporation's headquarters to Jungnang-gu.
The relocation of SH Corporation's headquarters was initiated following the announcement of the Gangnam-Gangbuk balanced development plan in 2018, but progress had been slow due to differences in positions among various institutions.
Chairman Min stated that during a meeting with Kim Heon-dong, President of SH Corporation, they conducted in-depth discussions to organize the key issues related to the headquarters relocation and separately reached an agreement on the related matters with Mayor Oh Se-hoon.
The plan to sell the current headquarters and move all employees to Jungnang-gu, which faced strong opposition from the corporation’s labor union, was adjusted to maintain the current headquarters while utilizing the new headquarters in Jungnang-gu. Civil complaints from the Gangnam area will be handled at the existing headquarters, while those from the Gangbuk area will be managed at the new Jungnang-gu headquarters.
Additionally, the planned performance hall to be installed as a public contribution facility was agreed upon to be donated in response to Jungnang-gu’s active request.
The traffic island located in front of the relocation site will not be incorporated into the site and will be maintained as is. The building height was agreed to be planned at 30 floors or less, considering the nearby Desiang Apartments.
Councilor Min Byeong-ju said, "The long-awaited relocation of SH Corporation's headquarters by the residents of Jungnang-gu is finally making progress," and added, "I will actively support the smooth promotion of the SH Corporation headquarters relocation for the development of Jungnang-gu."
