The Korea Agency of Education, Promotion and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries will hold the '2023 Korea Agriculture Expo' for four days from the 14th to the 17th at the aT Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul. This year's Agriculture Expo will be held as an integrated and linked event combining the 'Korea Urban Agriculture Expo,' the 'Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock Food Job Expo,' and the 'Agricultural Technology Expo.'
The Korea Agriculture Expo, first held in 2019, is the country's representative agriculture and rural-related expo now in its fifth edition. Last year, it was held offline for the first time in three years, attracting about 80,000 on-site visitors and 1.76 million online viewers.
This year's expo, themed 'Seeing the Value and Dream of Agriculture,' features exploring the potential of Korean rice and K-agriculture. The rice promotion hall includes programs where visitors can experience the rice industry up close, such as the powder rice policy, which is regarded as leading the future of the rice processing industry, an information booth for 'Bread Pilgrimage' visiting famous bakeries nationwide, an exhibition of powder rice bakery products from 19 local bakeries highly rated by consumers at the appraisal event, powder rice bread baking demonstrations, and powder rice beer tasting sessions. The K-agriculture hall introduces themed policies and achievements of three representative models of Korean agriculture gaining global attention recently after K-pop: the Africa K-Rice Belt, K-Food, and others.
This expo has expanded various spaces and programs to provide useful information to agriculture stakeholders and promote mutual exchange among them. A business lounge has been set up through pre-registration for prospective entrepreneurs and participating companies, enabling exchanges of startup support systems and investment information. The business lounge will also host events such as the Korea Agricultural Technology Promotion Agency's patent technology marketplace and briefings on smart agriculture. The conference held on the 15th will feature presentations and discussions by professors and representatives of agriculture-related companies on topics including 'The Era of Web 3.0 and Metaverse,' 'Farm Business Startup Design,' and 'Building Data-Driven Agricultural Systems.'
Lee Jong-soon, Director of the Korea Agency of Education, Promotion and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, said, "Through the 2023 Korea Agriculture Expo, we will strive to vividly convey to the public the achievements of recently spotlighted agricultural policies such as K-agriculture and powder rice, as well as the changes in agriculture and rural areas."
