On the 6th, Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk announced that it held a local food tasting event at the Agricultural Products Processing Center training hall on the 5th.

Held over a total of five sessions since last month, this tasting event was organized as part of local food development education to pre-taste and evaluate the local foods to be showcased at the 2023 Imsil N Cheese Festival.

About 50 people attended the event, including County Governor Sim Min, related departments of the Imsil Cheese Festival, members of the Imsil County Council, and members of the Imsil-gun Life Improvement Association, enjoying a variety of local foods.

At the tasting event, three groups that actively participated in the local food development education and achieved excellent results were awarded to boost members' morale, while also serving as an opportunity to strengthen the operation of the festival's local food pavilion.

After the tasting event, hygiene and safety management education related to the operation of the local food pavilion was conducted concurrently.

The Imsil N Cheese Festival has firmly established itself as a representative cultural tourism festival in South Korea, and this success is largely attributed to the operation of the local food pavilion, which offers the nostalgic taste of hometown flavors.

The local foods to be featured at this festival include 12 main dishes such as beef head soup, Korean beef bone soup with vegetables, and freshwater snail soup, as well as 39 side menu items including cheese sorghum buchimgae, cheese gimbap, and cheese tteokbokki.

Jung Hyun-ok, president of the Imsil-gun Life Improvement Association, said, “Through the local food tasting event, we are inspecting the food ahead of the festival and preparing to provide better dishes. The Life Improvement Association will strive to play a leading role in the development of agriculture and rural areas and be a great help to the local community.”

The 2023 Imsil N Cheese Festival, held from the 6th to the 9th of next month, will take place at the Imsil Cheese Theme Park, Imsil Cheese Village, and the Imsil-eup area, with over 30,000 chrysanthemum flower pots displaying more than ten million blossoms throughout the venue.

This year, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the relocation of the 35th Division, programs such as the “Cheese Festival with the Armed Forces,” a 50kg large aged cheese experience event, and Belgium Day in connection with the Belgian Embassy in Korea and Father Ko Ji-hyeon’s homeland will be held.

Governor Sim Min said, “The hometown flavors prepared with the heartfelt touch of mothers by the Life Improvement Associations of the 12 towns and townships are excellent, and I expect them to be greatly loved by tourists again this year.”

He added, “We will continue to develop and popularize new local foods using excellent local agricultural products to help farming households.”
