Gachon University will accept applications for the 2024 academic year early admission from the 11th to the 15th of this month.
The number of new students to be admitted at Gachon University next year is 4,925, with about 70%, or 3,441 students, being recruited through early admission. Additionally, the newly established advanced departments this year?Biologics Department, Big Data Management Major, Next-Generation Semiconductor Design Major, and the contract department Cloud Engineering?will admit their first batch of freshmen.
The Biologics Department, Big Data Management Major, and Chemical Engineering and Life Battery Engineering Division will admit 150 students, while the Next-Generation Semiconductor Design Major will admit 230 students.
The early admission process is divided into essay screening, student record screening, and comprehensive student record screening. The essay screening selects 964 students based on 80% essay test and 20% student record grades. Compared to last year, the weight of the essay test has increased while the weight of student record grades has decreased.
The student record screening includes the Outstanding Student Screening, Rural Area (Record) Screening, and Regional Balance Screening, all based 100% on student record grades. The Outstanding Student Screening applies minimum CSAT (College Scholastic Ability Test) requirements. The Regional Balance Screening is a principal recommendation screening, selecting candidates in two stages: 100% student record grades (7 times the number of admissions) in the first stage, and 50% of the first stage evaluation combined with 50% interview in the second stage. Unlike last year, the interview for the Regional Balance Screening will be conducted before the CSAT. The number of candidates selected for the interview in the Regional Balance Screening has increased from 6 times last year to 7 times this year, providing more interview opportunities for applicants.
The comprehensive student record screening includes the Gachon Windmill Screening, Gachon Medical Screening, Gachon AI·SW Screening, Equal Opportunity Screening, Specialized High School Screening, Rural Area (Comprehensive) Screening, Educational Opportunity Balance Screening, and Specialized High School Graduate Employed Screening.
The early employment-type contract department screening, selected under the Ministry of Education’s “Early Employment-Type Contract Department Leading University Development Project,” will receive up to 7.2 billion KRW in support over six years and will admit a total of 240 students in the Bio-Medical Device Department, Game and Video Department, Semiconductor and Display Department, Semiconductor Design Department, and Future Automobile Department.
These departments guarantee employment upon admission and offer a three-year program leading to a bachelor's degree. In the first year, full government scholarships are provided, and from the second year, 50% of tuition is supported by the employing company. From the second year, students work at the employing company while continuing their studies, receiving company-tailored intensive education and developing practical field skills.
