Local Brand Development Projects in Seonyuro and Jangchungdan-gil
Seoul City announced on the 6th that it will hold citizen participation events to enjoy autumn from September to November in seven representative alley commercial districts in Seoul, including Yangjaecheon, Hapjeong, Jangchungdan-gil, Seonyuro, Oryu-ro, Yongmaru, and Gyeongchun Line Forest.
The events will take place in seven “local brand commercial districts” that Seoul City is developing into representative alleys by nurturing their potential.
Seoul City selected seven areas as local brand commercial districts last year and this year: ▲Yangjaecheon-gil (Seocho-gu) ▲Hapjeong (Mapo-gu) ▲Jangchungdan-gil (Jung-gu) ▲Seonyuro-un (Yeongdeungpo-gu) ▲Oryu Beodeul (Guro-gu) ▲Yongmaru-gil (Yongsan-gu) ▲Gyeongchun Line Forest-gil (Nowon-gu), and is investing up to 3 billion KRW over three years to develop them into Seoul’s representative commercial districts.
This autumn event, following the spring events held in April and May, is designed to allow visitors to experience the atmosphere and purchase products by utilizing the branding of each commercial district, reflecting their strengths, stories, geographical conditions, and characteristics. The plan is to promote the districts naturally through social media (SNS) exposure, encouraging people to visit the alleys, feel their charm firsthand, and continue to revisit.
Seoul City plans to establish safety management plans for all events held in the local brand commercial districts to ensure that citizens and tourists can enjoy the events safely and comfortably.
Meanwhile, in April last year, Seoul City selected a total of five commercial districts as local brand development districts, and in January this year, added two more: ‘Gyeongchun Line Forest-gil’ and ‘Yongmaru-gil.’ The selected districts will receive up to 3 billion KRW per district over three years to support various facilities, infrastructure, and content development, aiming to develop them into Seoul’s representative commercial districts attracting both citizens and external tourists.
Park Jae-yong, Seoul City’s Director of Labor, Fairness, and Coexistence Policy, said, “In the second half of this year, we plan to hold differentiated events based on various contents and stories about the local brand commercial districts, just like the spring events in the first half. We will strive to make these places locations where people can feel Seoul’s unique charm and want to stay continuously.”
