Dobong-gu, the Nation's First Breaking Professional Team Established

Dobong-gu will establish the nation's first breaking workplace sports team.

The inaugural coach will be Director Lee Woo-sung, a historic figure in Korean breaking and the current Chairman of the Special Breaking Committee of the Korea DanceSport Federation, raising expectations for their future activities.

Director Lee Woo-sung said, "I am honored to work with excellent athletes," and added, "I am grateful to Dobong-gu for making the big decision to expand the base of the breaking discipline, and I will definitely repay this with good results."

The Dobong-gu breaking team is composed of seven members (one coach and six athletes), led by Director Lee Woo-sung, including Hangzhou Asian Games national representatives Kim Hong-yeol and Kwon Seong-hee, as well as Oh Cheol-je, Park Won-bin, Choi Jeong-woo, and Eom Hye-seong.

After the inauguration ceremony, they plan to start by participating in the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games, followed by the 2024 Paris Olympics and various domestic and international breaking competitions. The inauguration ceremony will be held on the 8th at Seoninbong Hall on the 2nd floor of Dobong-gu Office.

Since January this year, the district has been promoting the establishment of a new workplace sports team, finalized breaking as the discipline in July, and signed contracts with the coach and athletes in August.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, stated, "Although breaking has been adopted as an official sport in the Asian Games and the Olympics and recognized as a global sport, there was not a single domestic corporate team," and pledged, "By pioneering the establishment of a breaking workplace sports team, Dobong-gu will show young people the infinite possibilities of sports and create opportunities to promote Dobong-gu's name worldwide through the expansion of breaking."
