Gangjin County Council Holds Meeting for 'Making Gangjin a Better Place to Have and Raise Children'

Kim Ju-ung Provincial Assemblyman and Noh Doo-seop County Councilor Hold Time to Listen to Residents' Opinions

The Gangjin County Council in Jeollanam-do (Chairperson Kim Bomi) announced on the 5th that on the 4th, a 'Care Policy Meeting for Making Gangjin a Good Place to Have and Raise Children' was held in the small conference room on the 2nd floor of Gangjin County Office, presided over by Nodu-seop, Chairperson of the Council Operations Committee, and Kim Ju-ung, Provincial Assembly Member, with about 30 participants including child-related workers and childcare allowance recipients in Gangjin County.

This meeting was organized ahead of the first anniversary of the implementation of the Gangjin County Childcare Allowance to share the achievements and issues of the Gangjin County Childcare Allowance project and to gather various opinions on enhancing the future policy direction of the childcare allowance.

The Gangjin County Childcare Allowance project has been providing payments since October last year. It is a system that pays a monthly childcare allowance of 600,000 KRW per child regardless of income level or number of children, targeting children born from January last year.

Parents attending the meeting offered various opinions for creating a child-friendly environment, including △ establishing a good environment for raising children △ the need for pediatric night clinics △ implementation of postpartum massage services △ creation of public indoor children's play facilities △ extension of postpartum helper support period and application for part-time care.

Council Member Nodu-seop said, “I deeply empathize with the valuable opinions given by the parents, and I will closely cooperate with the executive branch to ensure that the opinions shared here today are reflected in policies. We will also frequently hold meetings like this to hear more diverse opinions.”

Meanwhile, the meeting was attended by Chairperson Kim Bomi, Council Operations Committee Chairperson Nodu-seop, Provincial Assembly Members Cha Young-su and Kim Ju-ung, Director of the Citizens' Happiness Division Lim Jun-hyung, and Child-Friendly Team Leader Kim Ji-hye, who exchanged opinions and listened to voices from the field together.
