Dobee Secures 150 Million KRW... Improvement of Street Environment in Hobeop-myeon
On the 5th, Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it was selected as the first place in the '2024 Universal Design Project for the Transportation Vulnerable' contest conducted by Gyeonggi Province.
The Universal Design Project is an initiative aimed at creating an environment where everyone can live without discrimination regardless of age, gender, or disability.
In this project contest, 31 cities and counties in the province participated, and Icheon City applied under the theme "Safe for Everyone, Neighborhood Paths in Front of My House." After a comprehensive evaluation including document screening and presentations, the province selected five cities and counties including Icheon City in August, and as a final result, Icheon City was chosen as the first place. Accordingly, Icheon City secured 150 million KRW in provincial funds.
The city plans to carry out a pedestrian environment improvement project around the central commercial area of 573-1, Huan-ri, Hobeop-myeon, and in front of elementary schools with a total budget of 500 million KRW, including 350 million KRW in city funds for the project site.
In particular, the city intends to actively secure the mobility rights of vulnerable pedestrians during the pedestrian environment improvement process and promote the project as a resident-led initiative by collecting and reflecting residents' opinions from the early stages of the project.
Kim Kyung-hee, mayor of Icheon City, stated, "Taking this contest selection as an opportunity, we will strive to make the streets of Icheon bright and clean."
