Rising Trend Due to Summer Peak Season
40% Increase in Average Sales per Person Compared to Same Period in 2019
Hana Pack 2.0, Preference for Premium Products
Hana Tour announced on the 4th that the number of overseas package tour customers in August, the peak summer season, exceeded 117,000 for the second consecutive month following 112,000 in July.
By region, Southeast Asia accounted for the largest share at 42.1%, followed by Japan (28.0%), China (11.0%), Europe (10.7%), South Pacific (5.9%), and the Americas (2.3%).
Looking at package reservations departing in August compared to the previous month, reservations for Australia (61%) and Japan's Tsushima Island (58%) saw significant increases. The company explained that the increase in ferry operations to Japan and the stable air supply from national carriers and low-cost carriers (LCCs) in Australia positively influenced the reservation rates. Additionally, popular destinations within China such as Baekdusan (36%) and Mongolia (30%) also experienced increased bookings compared to the previous month.
As of August this year, the average product price per customer at Hana Tour increased by about 40% compared to the same period in 2019 before the outbreak of COVID-19. The company estimates this is due to an increase in customers choosing Hana Pack 2.0, which offers relaxed schedules, special experiences, and safety tailored to customer preferences in the post-COVID era, as well as strong sales of premium products.
A Hana Tour representative stated, "The change in travel styles after COVID-19 has led to changes in product selection criteria, and interest in Hana Pack 2.0, which differentiates itself from low-cost competition by focusing on quality aspects such as schedules and services, is increasing day by day."
