Korea Rail Network Authority Seeks Project Manager for Development of Yangyang Population Stop Site

The Korea Rail Network Authority announced on the 4th that it is seeking a project operator to undertake the development of the site of the Donghae Mi Construction Line Ingu Station located in Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do.

The area to be developed is 34,230㎡. This site was purchased during the Japanese colonial period for the construction of the Donghae Line railway, but was excluded from the railway construction project site following the confirmation of the basic plan for the Donghae Northern Line (Gangneung~Jejin) railway in December 2020.

Currently, it is classified as idle railway land managed by the Korea Rail Network Authority.

The project will be implemented to develop this site into a regionally customized complex cultural tourism hub including surfing infrastructure. The project plan takes into account the high demand from visitors to Jukdo and Ingu beaches near the development site who enjoy marine sports (surfing).

The Korea Rail Network Authority plans to hold a project briefing session at the Metropolitan Headquarters located in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the 12th, and will recruit a project operator until November 2nd.

Further details about the project can be found on the Korea Rail Network Authority’s website.

Kim Han-young, Director of the Korea Rail Network Authority, said, “Through the development of idle railway land linked with the surrounding natural environment and tourism resources, we aim to contribute to the revitalization of the local economy in Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do,” adding, “The development project of the Ingu Station site is the first development project utilizing the Mi Construction Line site, and is expected to serve as a catalyst for the continuous expansion of idle railway land development.”
