Apply for the '2023 First Half Earned Income Tax Credit' by the 15th

1.46 Million People with Only Earned Income... Payment by the End of December

The National Tax Service announced on the 4th that it will accept applications for the Earned Income Tax Credit for the first half of 2023 income until the 15th.

Approximately 1.46 million people who earned only labor income in the first half of 2023 are eligible to apply. The applied credits will be reviewed for eligibility and are scheduled to be paid by the end of December this year.

For the first time, automatic applications will be applied to elderly and severely disabled individuals. Among those who gave prior consent in March, 110,000 people will have their applications completed without any additional procedures, and the National Tax Service plans to notify 520,000 new automatic application consent candidates in advance.

Additionally, elderly individuals participating in senior jobs can receive guidance on applying for the credit not only by visiting tax offices but also at nearby senior job institutions such as local governments and Senior Clubs.

To provide fast and accurate consultation services, the National Tax Service operates a dedicated Earned Income Tax Credit consultation center with 207 staff members, an increase of 28 compared to the same period last year.

Applications can be made through Hometax (PC or mobile) without visiting a tax office. It is also possible to apply easily via an automated response phone system.

A National Tax Service official stated, "Spam messages containing words related to the credit, even if not from the National Tax Service’s caller ID, are blocked in real time. National Tax Service employees never request any money or financial information (such as account passwords) related to the credit application. We urge caution against voice phishing and smishing scams impersonating Earned Income Tax Credit applications."
