2023 Korea Top Job Companies Status Analysis
Ministry of Employment and Labor, Top Company Certification Ceremony and Job Creation Government Awards Ceremony
It was found that companies selected as the 2023 'Korea's Best Job Creation Companies' by significantly increasing the number of jobs and improving job quality created an average of 171.8 jobs. This is 57 times higher than the overall average of other companies.
On the 4th, the Ministry of Employment and Labor held the '2023 Korea's Best Job Creation Companies Certification Ceremony and Government Awards for Job Creation Contributions' at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Since 2010, the Ministry of Employment and Labor has annually selected 100 top job creation companies and awarded them to encourage and spread the creation of quality jobs in the private sector. The top 100 companies receive a presidential certificate of recognition, preferential credit ratings and interest rates, preferential support for small and medium enterprise development funds, and about 199 administrative and financial supports and promotions (up to 3 years).
Among the 100 top companies selected this year, manufacturing leads with 30 companies, followed by information and communication with 27 companies, professional and scientific technology with 18 companies, and wholesale and retail with 7 companies. Among them, 5 companies were selected for three consecutive years, and 12 companies for two consecutive years.
The total job creation scale of the top 100 companies increased by 17,184 people (an average of 171.8 people) from 2021 to 2022, recording a 16.0% employment growth rate. This is 5,626.7% higher than the average employment growth rate of companies of the same size (20 or more employees) during the same period (2.8%, 3.0 people per company). Additionally, the turnover rate of the top 100 companies was 1.8%, and the proportion of fixed-term workers was 5.6%, both lower than the overall average.
This year, the Ministry of Employment and Labor awarded a total of 119 honors for job creation contributions, including 5 orders, 7 medals, and 34 presidential citations. The highest honor for job creation contributions, the Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit, was awarded to Choi Su-an, CEO of L&F, Koo Jae-sung, Executive Director of Dongkook Pharmaceutical, and Shin Dong-su, CEO of CoreAsia Semicorea. In the newly established Youth ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) category this year, Yoo Jong-min, Executive Director of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., who fostered young software talent through the operation of the Samsung Youth Software Academy, received a medal.
Lee Jung-sik, Minister of Employment and Labor, said, "I congratulate and thank the companies and awardees who have created good jobs through technological innovation, a win-win labor-management culture, and the creation of safe workplaces." He added, "The ultimate goal of labor reform is to revitalize corporate investment and create quality jobs. We will focus all efforts on labor reform and resolving job mismatches such as eliminating precarious jobs, while actively supporting companies to secure competitiveness and create more jobs through expanded investment in future talent development and deregulation."
