Lee Jae-myung, Hunger Strike Against Yoon Government's Contaminated Water Discharge
"Why Fight Alone... Chose the Wrong Leader"
Professor Jin Joong-kwon of Kwangwoon University criticized Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, for his hunger strike.
On the afternoon of the 1st, Professor Jin appeared on CBS Radio's 'Park Jae-hong's One-on-One Match' and was asked about Lee's hunger strike. He said, "(Lee's hunger strike) is called a protest, but why is he protesting alone? No one cares," adding, "Just eat some food, I recommend sashimi rice bowl."

He continued, "If you call someone else's (hunger strike) a 'tan-kkang' (tantrum), then yours is also a tantrum."
Earlier, on October 2, 2016, when Lee was the mayor of Seongnam, he criticized the hunger strike of Lee Jung-hyun, then leader of the Saenuri Party, on social media.
He wrote, "A hunger strike is the last means of resistance for the weak," and "The hunger strike of the mayor of Seongnam against the president's suppression of local autonomy is resistance, but the hunger strike of the ruling party leader who does it just because things don't go his way is not resistance but a tantrum or threat."
When Kim Seong-hoe, director of the Political Training Institute and ThinkY, who appeared on the broadcast with him that day, countered, "Back then it was the ruling party and this is the opposition," Professor Jin dismissed it, saying, "It's the same thing."
Professor Jin argued, "The Democratic Party's approval rating has hit an all-time low. It shows the limitations of the Lee Jae-myung regime," adding, "I also want to fight. The problem is that the person at the forefront of the fight is Lee."
He further criticized, "(Lee) is under investigation and someone else should take that position. Even if the ruling party runs wild, there is no momentum because there is a problem with the subject who should fight," and "There can be no momentum for the fight. The leader was chosen wrongly."
Professor Jin added, "Someone who should not have become the leader became the leader, and what he can do is neither save the party nor save the country."
