“The Myeongnyang Victory Festival Starts from Jindo”
The 2023 Myeongnyang Victory Festival will be held for three days from the 8th to the 10th at Uldolmok area in Jindo-gun and Haenam-gun.
According to Jindo-gun on the 1st, following last year, a variety of sights, activities, and food will be waiting for tourists this year as well.

On the first day of the festival, the 8th, events will begin with the Yakmu Honam Ritual, followed by Jindo Ganggangsullae, a Korean traditional music feast at the Jindo Victory Stage, and Namdo Deulnorae performances. At the Uldolmok weekend market, trot performances and the Namdo Pumba Master Exhibition will be held vibrantly over the three days.
The opening ceremony will captivate visitors with a realistic XR immersive media naval battle featuring 3D visuals, sound, and actors, along with a spectacular collaboration of 1,000 drones and fireworks recreating a naval battle on the Uldolmok sea.
On the second day, the 9th, unique events only seen in Jindo such as the Saturday Folk Travel, Jindo Ssikkimgut (a traditional cleansing ritual), and the Victory Drum Parade will take place. On the Uldolmok sea, there will be a sea folk boat play and naval and coast guard sea parades.
Additionally, in the skies above Uldolmok, the Republic of Korea Air Force’s special flight team, the Black Eagles, will perform an airshow featuring dazzling special flight maneuvers that showcase their organized teamwork and advanced flying skills, offering unforgettable memories to visitors of the Myeongnyang Victory Festival.
On the third and final day, the three-day grand event will conclude with performances of Namdo Japga, Jindo Dashiraegi, “Rebuild the Joseon Navy” featuring Yi Sun-sin and Boseong, and the Peace Manha Parade.
Especially this year, various competitions such as a youth song festival for the MZ generation, K-POP cover dance, and the Myeongnyang Cheerleading Competition will be held, making the festival an event where young people can also participate and enjoy.
Moreover, visitors will be captivated by the spectacular multimedia lighting show of the Panokseon warship, the Joseon Navy lantern exhibition, and the Myeongnyang Victory Stamp Rally (with goods provided).
A tourism official from Jindo-gun said, “We have prepared various programs again this year for the successful hosting of the Myeongnyang Victory Festival, which attracts tens of thousands of tourists,” adding, “We will do our best to give unforgettable memories to tourists and residents visiting Jindo, so that it can become a treasured island that people want to visit again.”
