Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, will appear at the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office on the 4th in connection with allegations of remittances to North Korea by Ssangbangwool Group.
Kang Seon-woo, spokesperson for the Democratic Party, told reporters at the National Assembly on the 1st, "Leader Lee will appear on the 4th, as insisted by the prosecution."
Kang added, "However, considering unavoidable scheduling conflicts, the first round of questioning will take place in the morning on the 4th, and additional questioning will be conducted after consultation with the prosecution during the following week. This schedule has been communicated to the prosecution in the morning and is currently under discussion."
He said, "If coordinated with the prosecution, Leader Lee will hold the Supreme Council meeting on the same day and then immediately appear at the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office," adding, "He plans to finish the morning questioning and depart at an appropriate time to attend the International Joint Conference to Withdraw Fukushima Contaminated Water Ocean Dumping at 2:30 p.m. on the 4th." Earlier, the Criminal Division 6 of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Young-nam), which is investigating the allegations, notified Leader Lee to be questioned on the 4th.
Meanwhile, Leader Lee Jae-myung began an indefinite hunger strike on the 31st of last month, stating, "I will not give up my work just because I am fasting," and "The prosecution's investigation will not be affected at all."
