822 Students Selected in Rolling Admissions
New Categories: Outstanding Essay Writers and Principal Recommendations

Sahmyook University will select 822 students in the 2024 academic year early admission. It has newly established the Essay Excellence Track and Principal Recommendation Track, and will recruit freshmen for advanced departments such as the Big Data Cloud Engineering Department and the Artificial Intelligence Convergence Department.

By admission track, the numbers are ▲Seum Talent Track (199 students) ▲Principal Recommendation Track (151 students) ▲Essay Excellence Track (134 students) ▲Equal Opportunity I Track (43 students) ▲S/W Talent Track (30 students), etc.

This year, the Essay Excellence Track was newly established in the early admission. It recruits from all departments except Pharmacy, Theology, and Arts and Physical Education departments, selecting students by combining 30% of school records and 70% of essay test scores. The minimum CSAT qualification standard is within grade 3 in one subject among Korean, English, Math, and Inquiry (1 subject).

Sahmyook University’s essay test is in a ‘simplified essay’ format. It is based on CSAT-linked textbooks such as EBS CSAT Completion and CSAT Special Lectures, and questions are set at the difficulty level of descriptive and essay-type questions in the school’s regular exams. The essay test consists of 15 questions to be answered in 80 minutes. Applicants for humanities departments must answer 9 Korean questions and 6 Math questions, while applicants for natural science departments must answer 6 Korean questions and 9 Math questions. Each question is equally scored at 10 points.

The Principal Recommendation Track (curriculum) was also newly established this year. Selection is based 100% on school record grades. The minimum CSAT qualification standard is within a combined grade of 7 in two subjects among Korean, English, Math, and Inquiry (1 subject) for general departments; within grade 6 for Nursing and Physical Therapy departments; and within a combined grade of 5 in three subjects among Korean, English, Math (Calculus or Geometry), and Science Inquiry (1 subject) for the Pharmacy department.

The Seum Talent Track (comprehensive) selects four times the number of candidates in the first stage based on 100% document evaluation, and in the second stage selects by combining 60% of the first stage score and 40% interview score. The document evaluation comprehensively assesses academic ability, major suitability, potential for development, and character based on school records. The self-introduction letter has been completely abolished according to government guidelines. The minimum CSAT qualification standard applies only to the Pharmacy department, requiring a combined grade of 5 in three subjects among Korean, English, Math (Calculus or Geometry), and Science Inquiry (1 subject).

The interview test is divided into curriculum track interviews (general, Equal Opportunity I, Arts and Physical Education Talent) and comprehensive track interviews (Seum Talent, S/W Talent, Equal Opportunity II, Special Education Candidates).

The Pharmacy department will select 15 students in this year’s early admission. The breakdown is ▲General Track (curriculum) 2 students ▲Principal Recommendation Track (curriculum) 3 students ▲Seventh-day Adventist Pastor Recommendation Track (comprehensive) 3 students ▲Seum Talent Track (comprehensive) 2 students ▲Equal Opportunity II (outside quota) 3 students ▲Special Education Candidates (outside quota) 2 students.

Sahmyook University has newly established the Big Data Cloud Engineering Department and the Artificial Intelligence Convergence Department, advanced departments within the College of Future Convergence, and is recruiting freshmen.
