[Click eStock] "Polaris Office Launches Generative AI Office... Business Expansion Expected"

On the 1st, KB Securities analyzed that Polaris Office is expected to expand its business with the official launch of ‘Polaris Office AI,’ a generative artificial intelligence (AI) model, scheduled for September 6.

‘Polaris Office AI’ is an AI-based office software that provides various generative AI models optimized for document creation. It features innovative document work functions utilizing the latest AI technologies such as ‘writing and sentence refinement,’ ‘image generation and editing,’ and ‘creating presentation materials with simple information input.’

In this official release version, a ‘Q&A (ASKDoc) function’ based on PDF and HWP documents was added in the mobile app viewer mode, and users can choose between GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 in ‘AI Write.’ The ‘AI Template’ will be upgraded to Naver’s ‘HyperCLOVA X.’

Kim Hyun-gyeom, a researcher at KB Securities, stated in the report on the same day, “The number of pre-registrants for ‘Polaris Office AI’ is estimated to be about 20,000 to 30,000, and a significant portion of them are expected to subscribe to the paid service,” adding, “Currently, Polaris Office is a partner of Naver’s ‘HyperCLOVA X,’ which has released a large-scale language model (LLM).”

Earlier in June, Polaris Office signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Naver Cloud to cooperate on AI office development and to advance AI office technology applying ‘HyperCLOVA X’ as well as to explore joint business opportunities.

Researcher Kim analyzed, “Naver Cloud provides priority technical support for Polaris Office’s ‘Polaris Office AI,’” and “The business model is expected to evolve into a method of embedding its own services such as educational Whale Books with Naver.”

Furthermore, he forecasted, “Since this AI version enables improved work productivity and document processing efficiency, an increase in paid subscribers and ARPU (average revenue per user) is expected, leading to improved performance in the second half of the year.”
