On the 31st, the People Power Party criticized Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who declared an indefinite hunger strike, calling it 'crocodile tears' and labeling it a 'crocodile hunger strike,' saying it was tantamount to dereliction of duty.

Kim Ki-hyun, leader of the People Power Party, said to reporters after concluding an on-site Supreme Council meeting in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, that "I don't understand why there is a sudden hunger strike just before the regular National Assembly session, which should focus on people's livelihoods and managing the citizens' affairs."

He then mentioned Lee's judicial risks, stating that "he should just give up his immunity from arrest." Kim said, "Leading the main opposition party, especially such a large opposition party, and neglecting one's duties is nothing but dereliction of duty. If he is afraid of his own judicial risks and the processing of the arrest consent bill, he should give up his immunity from arrest. It is truly frustrating why he keeps obstructing the people's livelihood."

Jang Dong-hyuk, the floor spokesperson for the People Power Party, also commented, saying, "Doing a hunger strike at a time when the prosecution summons and the arrest consent bill are imminent feels somewhat suspicious," and asked, "After one year since becoming party leader, why suddenly a hunger strike, blaming the Yoon Suk-yeol administration as if it were someone else's problem while focusing solely on self-preservation?"

He added, "For a stunt to avoid prosecution, it is a truly ingenious idea that no one expected," emphasizing, "At this point, it is not 'crocodile tears' but a 'crocodile hunger strike.'"

Jang urged Lee, saying, "It is a well-known fact even to a child in Samcheok-dong that the Democratic Party is the force inciting the public with the obvious lie that 1+1=100, yet suddenly they are trying to pit the people against the president. Whether it is a hunger strike or a people's uprising, I hope he first attends the promised warrant hearing."
