'Weapon Rampage Threat' Account Buyer is a Police Officer
A man who posted a threatening message about a weapon rampage while impersonating a police officer on the anonymous community 'Blind,' which only verified office workers can join, has been caught. However, it was revealed that the poster is an ordinary office worker, sparking controversy. It is understood that this man purchased someone else's account and posted as if he were a police officer. In fact, buying and selling Blind accounts occurs quite frequently online.

Summarizing posts from secondhand trading platforms and online communities, the price for accounts is mostly around 50,000 KRW. However, professional accounts such as doctors and lawyers can go for several million KRW.

Blind is a community platform with over 8 million registered users. Unlike other communities, Blind emphasizes complete anonymity and allows only current employees to join, which is its distinguishing feature. It gained popularity as the identity of the post author is guaranteed, enabling insight into internal company matters, leading to a rapid increase in users over the past few years.
However, students without jobs or job seekers cannot join Blind, so buying and selling accounts online has been happening occasionally for some time. It is reported that some use friends' or acquaintances' accounts or bypass the system by abnormal methods rather than email or business card verification to join Blind.

Especially, professional accounts like doctors are sold at high prices, which has drawn criticism that the social tendency where personal 'status' depends on the workplace is reflected online as well.
In 2020, a user of a Hyundai Motor employee account posted boasting about their 'specs,' and when asked in a comment, "To what extent?" replied, "Hyundai Motor office worker. Does that answer your question?" This led to memes mocking those caught up in self-admiration, and the phrase 'Kingcha Godmujik' became popular.
Blind states "Regular investigations into suspected impersonation accounts"
