Daejeon City announced on the 31st that starting from the 15th of next month, franchise stores with annual sales exceeding 3 billion KRW will no longer be eligible for cashback benefits when using the Daejeon Sarang Card (formerly Ontong Daejeon).
The purpose is to focus the cashback policy of the Daejeon Sarang Card on local small business owners.
Daejeon City sent this notice to about 2,300 businesses in the area (those with annual sales exceeding 3 billion KRW).
Additionally, the city plans to inform citizens about this through the Daejeon Sarang Card app and the Daejeon City website.
The non-payment of cashback to medium and large franchise stores is in accordance with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s “2023 Local Love Gift Certificate Issuance Support Project Comprehensive Guidelines.”
Separately, from this month through next month, Daejeon City is conducting a cashback event that returns 7% of the amount used from the recharged balance on the Daejeon Sarang Card. This event is held as part of the “Daejeon 0 o’clock Festival” this month and a consumption promotion event around Chuseok next month.
During this period, the recharge limit for the Daejeon Sarang Card is 300,000 KRW per month. After the event ends, from October to November, the city plans to provide a 3% cashback.
However, welfare recipients who make payments with the Daejeon Sarang Card at franchise stores with annual sales of 500 million KRW or less between August and November will receive a 10% cashback benefit.
