Sunchang-gun Takes a Step Forward for a "Sunchang Where All Residents Are Happy"

Expansion of Civil Safety Insurance... Compensation Also for Social Disasters

From the 1st of next month, Sunchang-gun, Jeonbuk Province, will expand the residents' safety insurance to ensure that residents can receive compensation even in social disaster situations.

According to Sunchang-gun on the 30th, the residents' safety insurance is a free insurance system provided by the local government for residents who suffer damage due to unexpected various disasters or accidents. Residents registered as having an address in Sunchang-gun (including registered foreigners) are automatically enrolled without a separate subscription process.

The coverage scope has been expanded from the existing 22 coverage items to include death or disability caused by social disasters or injury-related death and sequelae. The focus was on strengthening social safety nets by simultaneously covering large-scale disaster accidents and everyday life accidents.

For large-scale social disaster death accidents classified as disaster situations, residents can receive up to 12 million KRW in support. In addition, support of up to 2 million KRW is now available in cases of injury-related death or injury sequelae caused by other external factors.

Residents who have suffered damage can claim compensation within 3 years from the date of the accident, and for more details, inquiries can be made through the Sunchang-gun Office website, the Safety and Disaster Division, or NH Nonghyup Insurance.
