"Responsibility for Jamboree to Be Revealed in Board of Audit and Inspection Review"
Kim Hyun-sook, Minister of Gender Equality and Family, said on the 30th, "As the Minister of Gender Equality and Family and as one of the co-chairpersons of the Saemangeum Jamboree organizing committee, I would like to sincerely apologize to the Scout members who experienced inconveniences while camping and to the citizens who were concerned."
Minister Kim made this statement while attending the National Assembly Budget and Accounts Committee on the same day and meeting with reporters. This is the first time Minister Kim has expressed an apology regarding the Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree disruption incident.
She said, "I believe that the responsibility of anyone will be revealed through the Board of Audit and Inspection's investigation," adding, "At this moment, it is not appropriate to shift blame to anyone. I think it is proper to clearly explain the facts to the public and wait for the Board of Audit and Inspection's investigation."
Regarding her absence from the full meeting of the National Assembly Gender Equality and Family Committee on the 25th, she said, "If there is a consensus between the ruling and opposition parties, I will attend the standing committee at any time and respond sincerely."
She also responded to the dismissal rumors raised by some, saying, "I have not heard such talks clearly yet," and added, "I will faithfully fulfill my duties in the National Assembly and the audit."
