Dongseo University Wins 11 Reddot Awards in Germany

Dongseo University achieved a remarkable feat by winning a total of 11 Winners at the 2023 Red Dot Award. The work titled ‘Amazon Smile Tape’ was also selected as Best of the Best, an honor given to only the top 1% of Winner entries.

The Red Dot Design Award, organized by the Design Center of North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany, has a history dating back to 1955 and is considered one of the world’s top three design awards alongside Germany’s iF Design Award and the United States’ IDEA.

In the 2023 competition, approximately 8,000 works were submitted from over 50 countries worldwide, with 24 of the world’s top creators serving as judges.

The award-winning works are the results of Dongseo University’s convergence education programs, ‘Ideation Convergence Practice’ and ‘Creative Problem Solving’ classes, supported by the University Innovation Support Project Group, SW-Centered University Project Group, and LINC3.0 Project Group.

Students who received the Winner award at the ‘Reddot Award’ are taking a group commemorative photo.

The ‘Amazon Smile Tape’ work selected as Best of the Best features designs of endangered animals on the tape of ‘AMAZON’ delivery boxes, incorporating QR codes to raise consumer awareness and concern about endangered species.

The Amazon is known as the lungs of the Earth, home to diverse animals, but many species are currently endangered due to human greed.

Student Kang So-yeon, who received the award, said, “Despite many ups and downs, I believe we earned this honor because my team members did their best in their respective roles without giving up until the end,” and added, “I want to share the glory of this award with my advisor and our team members.”

The award-winning works will be listed in the 2023/2024 Reddot Brand & Communications Yearbook and introduced worldwide through online and permanent exhibitions. Best of the Best works will be permanently exhibited at the Red Dot Museum in Berlin, Germany.

The Red Dot Design Award ceremony, gala show, and award exhibition are scheduled to be held in Berlin on November 3, and the winners are expected to attend the ceremony in Berlin.

Dongseo University has won Best of the Best for four consecutive years and has maintained a record of 39 works selected as WINNER over the past nine years.
